An apprenticeship in Arboretum Coffee costs approximately $18,000 per apprentice. The internal certifications, in-the-moment coaching, and professional development mirror a year of technical college. Not only that, but apprentices are paid to take classes on financial literacy, career preparation, and customer service, focus on learning English, learn the culture of their new city, and build relationships with community members. Arboretum graduates are equipped to enter a career, whatever that career may be, with a foundation to transform our city through empowered communities.

Revenue from our coffeeshop covers the additional costs of running a nonprofit enterprise, including rent, utilities, and backend software and supplies.

All in all? Our fundraising goal is $285,000, all of which goes directly into our program.

Gifts from generous donors, like you, pay for the top notch training, support, job development, certifications, cultural integration, social capital building, and healing needed for an apprentice to experience sustained economic mobility.

1. Social Capital
85% of apprentices increase their social capital by the end of the apprenticeship.

2. Earning Power
70% of apprentices grow in essential workplace skills and dispositions by the end of the apprenticeship.
85% of apprentices acquire an above-minimum wage job after graduation or start post-secondary education.

3. Cultural Navigation
80% of apprentices accomplish their priority cultural navigation goal by the end of their apprenticeship.

4. Healing
70% of apprentices experience holistic healing (mental, emotional, spiritual, etc.) during the apprenticeship.
